Toots is a female kitten from the Tom and Jerry series. who debuts in the Tom and Jerry cartoon "Puss 'n' Toots". She is a love interest of Tom Cat.
Description[]
Appearance[]
In her first appearance, Toots was a small yellow cat adorned with two pink bows—one on her head and another around her neck—and a short tail. In The Bodyguard, she makes a cameo with white fur. Following her role in The Mouse Comes to Dinner, her bow became permanently blue, and she no longer has a bow around her neck. Additionally, she appears slightly older than in her previous shorts.
Personality[]
Toots is depicted as a glamorous and flirtatious feline, exuding a confident, sassy, and assertive demeanor that draws attention wherever she goes. Her charm often captivates Tom, prompting him to go to great lengths to impress her.
History[]
Tom and Jerry original shorts[]
Toots is Tom's love interest that was originally introduced in Puss n' Toots (1942) when Mammy Two Shoes answers the door to receive a young female cat named Toots to take care of temporarily, Mammy places her in the couch. It doesn't take too long until Tom sees her, and he falls madly in love with her and attempts to impress her. She was quadrupedal like Tom.
In her next appearance in The Mouse Comes to Dinner (1945), she appeared older than her debut appearance, in the cartoon she is able to speak, and is more anthropomorphic in this appearance. She is Tom's girlfriend invited over for dinner.
After The Mouse Comes to Dinner, she generally has been retired as she is eventually replaced by Toodles Galore. Her last appearance in the classic/golden-era was in a flashback in Smitten Kitten.
Later Appearances[]
Toots returns in The Tom and Jerry Show (2014) much like she did in the classic short, The Mouse Comes to Dinner. However, she was erroneously credited with the name Toodles Galore, who is actually Tom's primary love interest. In the series, Toots is a major recurring character and Tom's main love interest, while Butch now competes for her affections, reminiscent of the original Toodles in the classic shorts. Unlike previous portrayals, Toots is more assertive; she won't hesitate to leave if things go too far, as seen in the episode (Not) Your Father's Mouse-Stache.
She has made appearances in the book novels such as Warner Bros. Global Books in Party Crashing Tom and Winter Wipeout.
She also appeared in the mobile game Tom and Jerry Chase, where she is a playable character.
