The Bear and the Hare is a 1948 Barney Bear cartoon directed by Preston Blair and Michael Lah.
Plot[]
Barney is hunting - and skiing when he spots a snowshoe rabbit (difficult, since it all but disappears against the snow). He goes after it, but the rabbit is smarter than Barney. A snowball fight between the two turns into a tennis match.
Availability[]
- (2007) DVD - On an Island with You (1995 USA Turner print)
- (2019) Streaming - Boomerang (USA 1995 Turner print)
Notes[]
- The original working title for this short was Snowshoe Rabbit.
- This is the only time Barney roars. His roar is a stock sound effect which has been used in a few other MGM cartoons in the 1940s, and in other films or series such as the 1976 King Kong movie and Jaws: The Revenge.
- This is the first and only Barney Bear animated by Irving Levine.
