Henpecked Hoboes is a 1946 MGM cartoon directed by Tex Avery.
Plot[]
George and Junior are craving a chicken dinner, but George's clever plans to catch a chicken are constantly destroyed by Junior getting in the way. Eventually, the two settle on dressing up as a rooster to lure away a hen from a barn, who's being watched by her eagle-eyed mate. Then, they feud about who gets to be the chicken, instantly giving the idea away to the hen. George kicks Junior miles away, as usual, in frustration. However, the hen then kicks George miles away. This gag ends when her mate kicks her miles away. Overall, George and Junior had no chicken for dinner, on account of their bickering.

Censorship[]
- On Cartoon Network, George is left in blackface by an explosion after a failed attempt to booby trap the chicken's nest. This scene is shortened so the results are not seen, though, for a time, one version aired in which the entire scene was deleted after the brief scene of the rooster trying to hitchhike back to the farm, only for a car to speed by him.[3]
Notes[]
- This short marks the first appearances of George and Junior.
- The working title was "Bums Away".
- On Boomerang streaming service, the cartoon was misspelled as "Henpecked Hobos".
- This is the first MGM Cartoon to use the 1946 "The End" and "A Metro Goldwyn-Mayer Cartoon" titles.
